Learner Profiles: I want to delve deeper into my students learning profiles Where do we start?How do we do this? What are the logistics of keeping profiles on every student?How much time will it take to create 20-25 students? Wouldn’t we have to in order to differentiate for all? Is this ongoing? What information do you include in a profile? Will it be a portfolio with additional topics and areas? Can the profiles be passed from grade to grade and teacher to teacher? How do we begin to put together a learner profile for our students? Is there a particular formate for what should be in the profile? I would like to look at an example of a learning profile.Maybe we could create a common one for the division?? I want to delve into getting to know the student. Important but how do I find the time to do this? I think this is the most important item...how do I efficiently get to know my students? Organization: Can we work on classroom organization? Organization of routines is huge! Time is a huge factor!How do I do everything? How?: With everything else we have to do in a school day, where does the time come from? From the lives we don’t have! We need info on Theories of Change and how intellectually, emotionally and physically it affects us! Are more supports available once this new “learning” is put in place? How do we let other teachers know about differentiation? How will the division pass information gathered on to other teachers? How can I incorporate Student Services teachers into the classroom more? Not everyone is comfortable with another teacher in the classroom. How do we build a collaborative teaching team on staff so all are comfortable in sharing a classroom? Where do we begin?Students abilities and better understanding?The starting place of putting this in to practice is??? What do teachers need to let go of in order for DI to occur? Old school mentality is hard to let go of! I am excited about this way of reaching students! The focus for next day may include how to encourage others to learn differentiation. I want to understand it better before I encourage others to go with it. I agree, we should learn more ourselves before going to others. Assessment: I would like to look at different assessment tools that people use. A great idea! Is it possible to narrow it down to 2 or 3 tools? I want a list of 10-12 different methods of assessment. The kids should be involved in the process of writing their own rubrics. How do we match the assessment to the student’s abilities? I am interested in assessment with the many level of student ability. The levels would follow once we learn to pre-assess each child properly. Should assessments be tailored to individuals? I want to learn some quick and efficient formative assessment techniques. Assessments would be useful...especially pre-assessments. Assessment drives a learning profile....is it subject specific? I want time and resources to find good assessment tools. It would be interesting to hear what Janine Otterson is working on (AFL)? There are a ton of good assessment tools easily accessible on the net.I want to talk about how the tools impact our instructional decisions. Strategies: I want strategies I can use right away. Basic Adaptive Dimension is what to use most...is there more? I want to know specific skills, strategies or activities I can use in ELA that supports differentiation. I think activities will follow after the understanding of what differentiated instruction is.
